The Australian’s National Editor Dennis Shanahan says the No vote for the Voice referendum is a “disaster” for Prime Minister Anthony Albanese.

Mr Shanahan told Sky News host Peta Credlin that is certainly “not what he expected”.

“This is a record low vote for a referendum and the architect of it was Anthony Albanese,” he said.

“He promised it at the moment he was elected and from there on in has campaigned for it.

“He gave no real attempt to get bipartisan support.”
